    Strategic sector
Beyond a lifestyle, boating is also a strategic economic sector. “Nautical activities are an important driver for the blue economy, which is undergoing a moment of profound transformation, and initiatives such as those incorporated in the next edition of the Barcelona Boat Show are an important stimulus and support to strengthen innovation, internationalization and the competitiveness of our companies,” says Jordi Carrasco, General Director of ANEN.

The recreational boat market in Spain recorded a total of 4,084 registrations between January and August of 2025. This represents a decrease of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2024, according to ANEN and based on the records provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.
