Innovation Dock, twelve innovative and technological projects

The Barcelona Boat Show’s promotion of innovation and technology, represented by the Innovation Dock, will be unveiling a wide range of innovative proposals and solutions, mostly with the common denominator of sustainability.

The Dutch company DMS HOLLAND , which specialises in boat stabilisers, is putting the finishing touches on its design of the DMS All-in-One.
The concept is based on dual-axis fins which can adopt different lateral inclination angles and even attach to the hull, thus reducing friction when the boat is not sailing with the stabilisers in operation.

The upstart company from Gipuzkoa FOILCHEMY  has developed and a patented new control system for Airy hydrofoils to be able to sail through rough seas.At the same time, they have rolled out their Navstok software, a hydrofoil ship design programme, which provides for optimal designing.

HY-GENERAION  located in Vannes, is the first French start-up manufacturer of electric motors for boats. After several years of development and the filing of several patents, its first model, the RIM6  is now a reality. The RIM6 offers 6 kW (8 HP) of power with high performance and thrust. Weighing just 12 kilos, its remarkable propeller system is made up of several variable pitch blades that are set around the inner perimeter of a 40 cm diameter cylinder, which also provides protection against knocks or contact.

JERULIDA  has created the Tokenisation of boat moorings with Ignis Blockchain. Optimising berth occupancy is to the economic interest of marinas, which is why flexible price management is ideal for optimising revenues. The proposed solution is a blockchain-based public tokenisation of each mooring occupancy right per day, associating that occupancy right with an NFT. The owners of these NFTs are the only ones entitled to use that mooring on a given day. As these NFTs exist on the Ignis public blockchain, their use and transfer can be seamlessly integrated into any mooring booking application or within the marina’s mooring management system.

The Italian NL COMP  is an innovative start-up in the field of research and development of natural fibres, recycled materials and innovative resins for sailboat construction.rComposite  is the world’s first recyclable composite for the boating industry and guarantees a sustainable end-of-life for the next generation of sailboats. The result of their products is the ecoracer , a successful 25-foot racing sail boat offered by nlcomp, which is the world’s first recyclable sports boat, built with a thermoplastic matrix and flax fibres.

Awarded in Innovation Dock‘s previous edition, PROTEUS INNOVATION  is a company that develops unmanned boats for companies and individuals with the aim of bringing innovation to the nautical sector.

The firm’s first vessel is called Nàutic , a one-metre long unmanned rescue drone, ready to reach victims in distress at sea as quickly as possible and bring them back to safety.

From Slovenia, REMIGO proposes an electric outboard drive for light vessels up to 1,500 kg. The engine takes the form of a dinghy rudder blade, which is hung on a bracket attached to the transom, with a system that allows its draft to be adjusted vertically to a maximum of 80 cm. The interior of the “blade” houses the batteries, motor and transmission, with the propeller protruding from the bottom. The engine, christened RemigoOne, claims a 1000W power output and a 30 kg thrust, equivalent to a 3 HP fuel outboard. It has three power modes, with an intermediate range of 15 miles at 3 knots, and a top speed of 5 knots. Its 12 kilos makes it easily transportable.

SATELITOT  is the first telecom operator to provide full IoT (Internet of Things) coverage to mobile operators under the *Nb-IoT (4G/5G) standard. It is based on a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) constellation of nano-satellites, which function as telecommunication towers from space where terrestrial IoT devices will link when conventional telecommunication towers are not available. It allows economies of scale to be harnessed by reducing handset costs, and making it possible to globally and massively extend IoT services with 5G coverage to the 90% of the Earth that does not have mobile coverage.

Created in Austria, SEASY  is an APP for booking moorings at marinas, covering the application of berths and payment processing with the Austria mooring booking APP. Users have access to a list of the marinas that are members of the APP, sorted by country, where they can consult the information on each port.

The Spanish firm TITECH  has developed Titanium, a technology to combat biological fouling on submerged structures without the need for antifouling paints, chemical treatment, ultrasonic systems or any of the other methods currently available on the market. Titanium is based on electrochemistry and allows structures to be kept free of biological fouling over time without the need for maintenance operations and no contamination.

The German company TOM LOGISTICH  has developed Enteron , a fully biological mini wastewater treatment plant for sailing and motorboats, houseboats, large mobile homes and expedition vehicles. The first prototype was designed, built and tested with the help of students of applied sciences at Berlin’s Beuth University. Already in production, Enteron is a fully biological technology that completely purifies wastewater onboard a ship and returns it to stagnant and flowing water

The Barcelona-based company UNDERWATER GARDENS INTERNATIONAL (UGI) develops solutions for the regeneration of marine life through its Life Reef Technologies (LRT) brand, which brings together technological products and developments dedicated to marine restoration. Their proprietary software is created for the efficient and symbiotic design of Smart Enhanced Reefs (SER®), smart substrates for seabed regeneration and ecosystem restoration services.
